WFUV NEW YORK, NPR TEAM UP TO BROADCAST NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL LIVE THIS WEEKEND, JULY 31-AUG 1: THE LOW ANTHEM, THE AVETT BROTHERS, SHARON JONES & THE DAP KINGS & MORE
WFUV (90.7) Bronx-New York will air two days of live main stage performances from the famed George Wein's Newport Folk Festival. On Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 from 11:15am - 7:30pm, WFUV, in cooperation with NPR Music, will be broadcasting and webcasting all the Festival's main stage performances as they happen. WFUV Music Director Rita Houston, FUV Morning Host Claudia Marshall and NPR Host Bob Boilen will be in Newport to bring listeners performances by Andrew Bird, John Prine, The Swell Season and Levon Helm Band and many others. (A full schedule of performances is available below). George Wein's Newport Folk Festival will air live on WFUV and worldwide on WFUV.org, where many of the Festival's performances will be available on demand. "We're excited to bring the festival to music fans on the radio in New York, and anywhere on the web. Thanks to WFUV's partnership with NPR, more people can have the Newport experience," said WFUV Program Director Chuck Singleton.

WYEP PITTSBURGH INVITES KIDS TO "ROCK RADIO CAMP"
WYEP (91.5) Pittsburgh announces Rock Radio Camp for rising 6th, 7th & 8th graders. The day camp is August 2-6, 2010 from 9am to 3pm at The WYEP Community Broadcast Center. Rock Radio Camp is a unique, hands-on experience for students interested in music, science, technology and the arts. The five-day camp introduces students to the world of radio and production, including speaking into a microphone, selecting music for a DJ set, interviewing guests, promotion, and more. This fun and informative workshop is led by WYEP’s Education Staff with special guests including WYEP Morning Mix Host Cindy Howes, local musician Joy Ike, DJ Zimmie and others. Enrollment tuition is $175 for WYEP Members and $200 for non-members. Space is limited to ensure the most productive learning atmosphere. Interested students can download a Rock Radio Camp application at the WYEP site.




WYEP PITTSBURGH ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR "FINAL FRIDAYS" CONCERT SERIES: KAISER CARTEL, THESE UNITED STATES, BACKYARD TIRE FIRE

WYEP announces the new season of WYEP’s Final Fridays at Schenley Plaza, a free concert series held on the final Friday of July, August and September 2010. This year’s featured artists include Kaiser Cartel, These United States, and Backyard Tire Fire. Final Fridays at Schenley Plaza take place under the plaza’s tent, with one artist featured each month. All concerts start at 7pm. This family-friendly series is free. Local support for WYEP's Final Fridays at Schenley Plaza is provided by Dollar Bank, Turner Dairy Farms, and Whole Foods Market. In addition, WYEP announces its annual outdoor concert and fundraiser, Rock the Block, on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Details and line-up coming soon.
