OPENING: WKSU KENT, PROGRAM DIRECTOR
WKSU
 Kent OH, a service of Kent State University, seeks a Program Director for WKSU, an award-winning NPR News and Classical Music public radio station.

The Program Director will create, develop, and implement programming and operational strategies designed to maximize audience and donor development potential.  Reports to the Executive Director/General Manager, WKSU.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications or relevant field; four to five years experience in public or commercial radio programming management.

WKSU has the largest FM coverage in Ohio, serving more than 20 Ohio counties and parts of Western Pennsylvania, 89.7 WKSU operates from the station’s broadcast center in Kent and via repeater stations at 89.1 WKSV in Thompson, 89.3 WKRW in Wooster, 91.5 WKRJ in New Philadelphia, 90.7 WNRK in Norwalk, and via translator station 95.7 in Ashland. We have an annual budget in excess of $4.5 million, and a staff of 35 dedicated professionals.

WKSU is recognized nationally as an outstanding news organization. In the calendar year 2012 alone, WKSU had 44 awards with 23 of those being first place.  WKSU also had one inductee into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame (Vivian Goodman).

The news director oversees news and information programming and is responsible for the structure and strategy that will ensure WKSU remains a crucial part of Northeast Ohio’s context, understanding and sense of community.  This includes overall direction and planning, hiring, training, coaching, editing and story conceptualizing and planning, as well as working with other departments at the station and other groups in the community to broaden and deepen our reach.

Minimum Qualifications:

OPENING: WMFE ORLANDO, PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER
WMFE-FM, the primary NPR News Public Radio station in Orlando, Florida, seeks a President and General Manager with the ability to lead a very talented staff to a position of prominence in the Central Florida market. WMFE-FM is solidly connected to the community, financially stable, with strong Board of Trustee support.

WMFE-FM serves Central Florida's seven counties, including the cities of Orlando, Daytona Beach, Kissimmee, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, Winter Park, and Windermere. WMFE-FM is a stand-alone, community licensee, with a budget in excess of $2 million per year, with 5 senior managers directly reporting to the President and General Manager, a current total staff of 19, and is in the process of expanding news personnel.

WMFE-FM offers two digital radio channels: 90.7, with a news and information format, is the sole NPR affiliate in the market with a weekly audience of over 200,000 listeners. 90.7-2 HD provides classical music programming. Both stations broadcast 24 hours, seven days a week.

WMFE-FM seeks a leader who has a clear understanding of the mission of public radio, who is energetic, visionary, has an entrepreneurial approach and who brings experience in creative programming and program development. Candidates must have solid business and media skills plus be a strong communicator who will become the "face" of the station.

This position is the opportunity for a talented individual to lead WMFE-FM to overall market leadership in a community that is limited in radio news and information
