MOTHER JANE

The Album
This Time Tomorrow
The Track "And Counting"
The Label Raya
Liner Notes Easily mistaken for a lost Indigo Girls track, Mother Jane have a bunch of 'em, quality songs on their new
This Time Tomorrow that are plenty worthy of the comparison. It looks as if Beth Burden and Lisa Raymond have begun to solidly break out beyond the regional status of their base in Lexington, KY. Perhaps you caught them performing outside at the NON-COMMvention a few years back in Louisville. Passionate Mother Jane fans are known to attend multiple shows, buy CDs and inundate radio request lines. I'm inclined to agree with WUKY Lexington MD Stacy Yelton, who once said, on these very pages, that "Mother Jane can
sing. No, I mean
sing. And these days, that is a rarity." The Jason Poff-produced
This Time Tomorrow shows the duo's maturing into a more full sound after seven years together. Station airplay consensus is focused on the album's bouncy, soulful opening cut, "And Counting," but the Shawn Colvin-like "The Slow Down," the plunky "Just a Dream" and funky/bluesy "Look in the Mirror" are also radio-friendly.
"...Cause the cards aren't stacked the same, similar worries, but different names, if you ask the time is now, this is our finest hour..." —Mother Jane

Quote "Mother Jane has done everything right on
This Time Tomorrow. Soaring vocals deliver powerful lyrics, and the production gives it a rock solid groove. A giant step...forward." —Stacy Yelton, MD, WUKY Lexington
"
On This Time Tomorrow, Mother Jane fully embrace their rockness, completing a four-album transition from ascoustic-folk troubadors to an electric folk-rock duo, all the while impressively accentuating and complementing the sweet, soulful melodies and harmonies that Beth Burden and Lisa Raymond have mastered through four Mother Jane albums now. Mother Jane's time has come." —Jim Nelson, A Taste Of Triple A
"On the new and fourth album from Mother Jane entitled
This Time Tomorrow these talented purveyors of rhythm and folkie soul show a finer grasp of their destiny while providing us with a collection of tunes that ooze with bluesy groove and grace. Not since Ellen McIlwaine's 'We The People' has there been this much originality and class as best exemplified in the tune, 'Look in the Mirror.' This is a truly solid album that grows on the listener with each play." —"Dean Sciarra, ItsAboutMusic.com
